Bride gets surprise of her life as Missy Elliott swoops in to buy dream dress she couldn’t afford

Rapper saved the day by splashing out $1,300

Regardless of the guest list, the menu, or the free bar, the pinnacle of a wedding for a bride is the dress (oh, and saying ‘I do’ to her partner).

Yet with astronomical prices, it can be tricky to get the exact one you want, with people often settling for second or third best.

And one woman was willing to give up her first choice due to budgeting for a house move at the same time as her big day.

However, thanks to the generosity of one superstar, Missy Elliott swept in to save the ceremony.

It all began when body positive model Ireanna Bradshaw took to Twitter to reveal she had found the perfect gown but simply couldn’t afford it.

Ireanna wrote: “I’m getting married in March and trying to move into our own place… Excited but overwhelmed. I have been saving money; but it’s still a struggle.

“I found my dream dress and I want to get it so bad but between saving for the move – I don’t think it will be possible.”

The frock came in at a cool $1,300 (£980) from David’s Bridal, America’s largest bridal-store chain that specialises in wedding dresses, prom gowns, and other fabulous attire.

While the cost was out of Ireanna’s price bracket, her dream soon turned into a reality when the Grammy Award winner popped up on Twitter to say she’d pick up the cheque.

Missy tweeted to Ireanna: “Your dress is paid for now. I don’t know you, but I saw you said the dress of your dreams and figured I would help when I saw you post your cash app. May blessings pour on your beautiful wedding day with your future husband.”

Nearly at a loss for words, the bride-to-be replied: “Omg thank you so much… I’m literally speechless; this is so sweet.”

She then cheekily added: “You can come if you want – I’d love to have you.”
