West End theatre is back! Free shows are streaming into your living room

The streams will be on YouTube, all free of charge

Alongside opening stockings, eating turkey with all the trimmings, and falling out with family, panto or theatre trips are often up there as one of our Christmas traditions.

However, due to the ongoing events of this year, families are unable to hit London’s West End as they previously have due to social distancing and entering the dreaded Tier 3.

In an effort to combat this, performances will be coming to you instead and beaming straight into your living room thanks to YouTube streaming a whole host of shows.

Coined ‘The 12 Days of Culture’, their programme will see a variety of theatre, dance and music extravaganzas hit the platform on December 25 and run through until January 5.

The cherry on the cake? The streams will be free of charge, albeit audiences are encouraged to make a donation towards the theatre or institution whose show they are watching.

There really is a little something for everyone, with panto enthusiasts able to tune into the National Theatre’s performance of Dick Whittington; ballet fans being treated to a choice of two Scottish Ballet productions including The Fairy Kiss or The Rite of Spring; while those itching for a masterpiece should tune into Bristol Old Vic’s showing of Messiah.

Thanks to the good folk over at Time Out, they have collated the full list below. Happy viewing!
