Duvet, Aspirin, and Netflix, the Holy Grail for when you have the cramps or sweats.
Though now one item looks set to top them all – period tea.
So, curl up on the sofa and enjoy a swig of Over the Moon or Take a Pause; two new products that promise to support you when the going gets tough.
Over the Moon has been blended to help people who struggle with PMS [premenstrual syndrome], irregular periods, endometriosis and PCOS [polycystic ovary syndrome].
A delicious mix of raspberry leaf, chamomile flowers, gingko, spearmint, dandelion root and rose petals, these herbs have been used for millennia to help soothe cramps and reduce bloating.
Meanwhile, Take A Pause is specially blended to support the body through the menopause transition, from perimenopause to post menopause.
With a recipe including ginseng, gingko biloba, liquorice and valerian, this tea promises to help irregular periods, heavy blood flow, anxiety, and lack of sleep.
While each ingredient has been selected for a functional purpose, together they create a refreshing herbal drink that can be enjoyed over ice especially during hot flushes.
Speaking about the teabags, which cost £6 for a box of 15, entrepreneur and HotTea Mama owner Bethan Thomas revealed why she created her alternative medicine blends.
Bethan said: “I have a degree in Tea Science and when my co-founder Kate was pregnant she would often ask me for advice on what she could drink.
“I would tap into my knowledge to recommend herbs and blends that could help her with morning sickness or be a satisfying replacement for caffeinated drinks.
“This research helped me too when I was expecting my first child. We kept asking ourselves, why is nobody offering this kind of product? We had no answer, but we loved the concept.”
Bethan is the first non-Chinese person to get a degree in Tea Science from Fujian Agricultural University and previously worked as a buyer for renowned Whittard to create their own blends.
Bethan continued: “Our customers came to us asking about PCOS, fertility, endometriosis, PMS and menopause, and we saw there was a gap in the market for products that targeted these issues.
“We’re delighted with what we’ve created and look forward to this new journey.”
Not only have the dream team magicked up two tasty new drinks, better yet, each teabag can be used twice to create 30 cups of tea from one box.
Oh, and did we mention all their teas are vegan and gluten free, while the packaging is plastic-free and biodegradable so everything can be added to a food compost bin.
